After starting at Lennestadt-Altenhundem station, the route rolls leisurely via Kirchhundem to Oberhundem. This is followed by the famous serpentines over the Rhine-Weser watershed to the other side of the Rothaargebirge. There you follow the Eder towards Bad Berleburg before tackling the long climb from Aue-Wingeshausen via Jagdhaus back to the Sauerland side of the mountains. The professional racing cyclists in the 2008 Tour of Germany also had to tackle this climb. A fantastic descent leads us down into the Lenne valley to Schmallenberg. The tour then leads through the Haverland with its open and undulating landscape via Oedingen and Elspe, the site of the famous Karl May Festival, back to Altenhundem.
