After starting in Böddinghausen, the route leads via Plettenberg to Landemert and Hülschotten. Here, after just 12 km, you reach the mountain that gives this tour its name: Auf dem Höchsten (506 m). The route only really starts to climb after Finnentrop. At km 32, the highest elevation of 627 meters is reached at the "Aussichtspunkt Sterlberg" near Faulebutter.

The next 30 km are rather leisurely. The beautiful stretch along the Sorpesee to the dam is particularly enjoyable. The route continues only slightly hilly into the Hönnetal valley. After passing the rugged limestone walls and the Uhufelsen rock, the route continues along the L 682 to Deilinghofen.

After Hembecke, a right turn would take you to Heinrichshöhle and the Felsenmeer Museum. However, the tour turns left onto the K32. From Garbeck, follow the K12 to Küntrop. After crossing the Lenne via Affeln and Eiringhausen, turn right to reach the starting point of the tour.
